Oak Haven Massage & Bodyworks

Oak Haven Massage & Bodyworks is a combination of chiropractic and therapeutic massage work for those seeking healing through functional medicine in San Antonio or Austin, TX.  I was hired on for the company's rebrand in 2022 to write their refreshed corporate website and unique employee bios. The goal was to create a full story arc for the brand.

Massage Table

Kayce –

Kayce’s journey into massage began with a wrestling match. If you’re struggling to find that connection, allow us to explain.

In 2017, she sat listening to the ferocious roar of a crowd as the reigning champ paraded through the stadium. The underdog marched into the ring, confidently tuning out the clammer. Everyone knew that this rookie didn’t stand a chance. The bets, the odds, the noise – it was all against him. Yet, with each swivel and swerve, he accomplished the impossible. The stadium belted at a higher pitch and the reigning champ won his last.

It was in that moment that Kayce had an epiphany. She wanted to give back to the sport that gave her so much, paired with a belief in the impossible.

So, in 2020, she graduated from Lauterstein & Conway to combine her love for martial sport with therapeutic bodywork. Her passion stems from wrestling, but more so for her dedication to the underdog. Through her mastery of mobilization techniques, she enables range of motion for those dealing with frozen joints or martial sports. Her specializations include frozen shoulder, thoracic outlets, sports injuries, neck immobility, and deep tissue. On her table, you’ll be the underdog walking out of your victory match.

So, if you’re looking for a cliché story, you may have to search elsewhere. But, if it’s a unique experience you seek, Kayce’s touch of eastern art and sports medicine is a fusion that won’t be found elsewhere. So, allow us to invite you in the ring because much like wrestling, Kayce knows that it’s her client’s resilience that makes massage worthwhile.

Quite frankly, so do we.

Jerry -

When his daughter was young, Jerry began writing her stories - some short, some tall - until they founded King Jerome’s Library. It was a little place where they could retreat to their memories and imagination. He always had a knack for creating worlds that offered healing, resilience and an escape to wonderful places.

So, it comes to no-one’s surprise that he dedicated his life to hearing client’s stories and making them feel whole again.

For Jerry, this all began with a psychology degree from the University of North Dakota. It was a perfect foundation to work as a counselor in the army and later, in a home for trauma recovery. In 1988, he decided to shift his focus to bodily trauma and with over 30 years of experience, it’s safe to say that he found his niche in the massage industry.

In hindsight, his love for writing, counseling, and massage all stemmed from a desire to see your happy ending. With Jerry, overcoming your pain and stress is written on the table, and you may contribute a verse. All it takes is a booking, and Jerry will hand you the pen.

April –

When April was young, she stood at the center of a crowded room - the audience hushed at the brush of a violin as velvet curtains slid across the stage. Her breath slowed; the lights focused and, in an instant, she was twirling along with the symphony. As she lifted herself off the ground, she knew what it was to feel infinite. Gravity did not define her. In fact, she defied it.

April danced in these spaces for over 20 years having studied ballet/tap/jazz and kinesiology at the University of Texas. But after a dance injury and the birth of her first child, her health took a turn for the worse.

Luckily, the tale doesn’t stop there! Through yoga and post-natal bodywork, she turned back the clock and dedicated herself to pre/post-natal healing. Her hope now is to offer mothers and athletes healthy alternatives that make them feel powerful in their own skin.

To this day, April dances, just not in the ways you would think.

She uses her timing, rhythm and fluidity to heal and empower through the art of therapeutics.

Now, she welcomes you to the stage, where your body can feel infinite.

And as for your pain, just like gravity –

you’ll defy it.
